I had gone in with very high expectations... first bcoz it was a aamir khan movie and then bcoz of the oh so awesome reviews it has garnered.Sadly I was left dissapointed mainly due to exaggerations and the unrealistic portrayal of life at a competitive engineering college which was described more aptly in Bhagat's book. I feel a movie should either be total timepass fun or totally serious.(Well they are just my thoughts and which means they are but obviously ryt) So it is certainly not a real life movie but a reel life movie.
Lets start with the good though. The songs ...especially AALL IS WELL song and the anthem used throughout the movie is reallly kool. Also the message it signifies is fantastic... to fuhget ur worries and believe tht all will be well. Apart from that Maddy comes across superbly as the geeky colleger.Aamir is charming as usual although his character I felt was a bit too talkative and too worldly wise for a college student! They changed the novel, Five point someone's script. Though comparing the final script of the movie to the actual novel, I think the novel wins. I dunno abt u, but I do prefer to hear stories more plausible in the real world. Also the movie does become kinda preaching with aamir going on abt doing wat u love in life. I mean tell a story ryt, let the audience make their own deductions. Its easier said than done actually, so many ppl do have to support a family and have to do something to earn a livelihood. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon or even into a middle class family where they might have the freedom to do what they love. It also depends on the parents so much, the encouragement they provide or the environment they child is subjected to. Well I could go on and on about this, but hey after living here for 22 years you tend to notice these things! Anyways all in all its just about worth a watch bcoz of the fun factor in the movie. I feel a younger star cast may have been better for the movie.
Chalo enough analysis... I am boring maself now (!) so I think I should stop. Oh I forgot to explain title of this thesis (ahum ahum) is Ho Hum ...(3 stars i had give it out of 5) its wat I felt abt the movie basically. Although I had expected the title to be more like WOW!
