FC Barcelona = Arsenal FC + Trophies

Incredible! I exclaimed as I watched Barcelona trash Shakhtar Donetsk 5—1 at the Nou Camp in the Champions League Quarter Final match on April 6th. All due respect to Shakhtar, but they were no match for Barcelona and were, like the rest of us, left mesmerised by the scintillating football that their talented opponents dished out.

Five fantastic goals. Each of them can be described as exquisite masterpieces of a brilliant artist. I am a fan of Barcelona’s football. I am also a supporter of Arsenal, their English counterparts. But Arsenal have not been able to achieve what Barcelona has. They have not won as many trophies. Their problem is that they just don't have the final product. They play well. They threaten. They deceive. But they don't finish their opponents off even after having them at their mercy.

Let us consider the principal reason why Arsenal have won many fans all over the world in the last few years. The answer is obvious; it is due to their brand of exciting and attacking football. Even the recently axed Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelloti, has said that he admires the way Arsenal play, but with no trophies (in the last six years!) to show for their efforts they have let their fans down time and again.

Barcelona also play in a similar way or to quote Real Madrid legend Alfred Di Stefano, “Barcelona treat the ball with respect, adoration; they almost pamper it."And they have won nine trophies (including the 2011 Spanish league) in the last three years itself to boot. Thus, if Arsenal are credited for  promoting this enthralling brand of football, Barcelona must be praised for mastering it and showing the world how to win using it. It would not be unfair to say that Barca epitomise all that fans could have ever hoped Arsenal to be.

What's the difference between the two sides you ask? Well to tell you the truth, buddy, there are numerous differences. First of all, most of the players in Barcelona’s team have already proven themselves at the international level, whereas Arsenal rely more on talented but inexperienced players, who are young and still finding their way.

Second of all, Barcelona have Lionel Messi.

Third of all, Barcelona’s management have taken much better decisions compared to those of Arsenal’s. To play the beautiful game in the beautiful way, a team needs the right kind of players. And Barca have an almost invincible side, apart from Messi, they boast of many Spanish world champions in their ranks including Andres Iniesta and David Villa. They also do not shy away from loosening their purse strings, as and when required, to buy special players, unlike Arsenal who are thrifty, and at times, downright parsimonious. I also feel Arsenal should make it a priority to have a significant number of native, i.e. in their case british, players in their side.

As both clubs are proponents of attractive football, I wish both Arsenal and Barcelona the best for the future. But the present, of course, belongs to the latter. El fantastico Barca!

Fernando Torres worth more than Blackburn Rovers FC

Top Recent Football Transfers [1] [2] :

Cristiano Ronaldo - £80 milllion (From Manchester United FC to Real Madrid FC)
Zaltan Ibrahimovic - £60.1 million (From Inter Milan FC to Barcelona FC)
Kaka -  £56 million (From AC Milan FC to Real Madrid FC)
Fernando Torres -  £50 million (From Liverpool FC to Chelsea FC)
Andy Carroll   -  £35 million (From Newcastle United FC to Liverpool FC)
Blackburn Rovers FC  - £23 million (From Jack Walker Trust to Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group)

Thats right, Blackburn Rovers club was sold to Venky's for only £23 million. Which means Andy Carroll alone is worth more than the entire Blackburn Rovers team and stadium and facilities! Torres alone is worth more than two BRFCs!! And Cristiano is worth more than three!!!

IPL:What a waste of time?!

Indian premier league 2 is upon us... and the public is buzzing with excitement.

Not me.. oh no. Not this time. Its nothing but big hype over big players who dont make big runs but do stuff big money into their pockets, basically a big waste of time. I wont watch even for a second. This is what I told myself at the start. But then wonder why my hand twitch
es to grab the TV remote every second night. Why do feel the urge to see some big hits by whomever who hits them? What is this invisible force which is tempting me, enticing me to jump on the couch and turn on SET MAX?Is this common? Or should I see the doc or sumthing? Basically I think I have become very undisciplined. But i dont blame myself, after spending the whole day in the office who wouldn't want to relax a bit?

Well coming back to IPL, this year toh its definitely gone overboard with the advertisements. I mean c'mon-
Strategic breaks of 7.5 minutes after 10 overs each. Boss, only strategy behind this is to attract even more sponsors with more advertisement time. As if there isn't enough ad time any ways.I mean compare cricket to football. Twenty 20 was supposed to be crickets answer to football's no timewasting, high entertainment in less time schedule advantage. But boy, Lalit Modi's got other ideas.
And did you notice the player names been removed from the players backs. Oh wait , its there but on the lower back. You dont have to be Einstein to realize that that is where the camera focuses on most of the times so .. why write some nonsense like players names.. Anyways the got ads everywhere shoulders, chests, bats, helmets. Probably they should do some face painting as well I mean c'mon why waste so much space.. sheesh!
So guys I definitely recommend you to watch IPL , oh I mean watch the new Indian Advertisement League(IAL) .. with some cricket in between!

Well to tell the truth, I watch the IPL only because of one man, Yusuf Pathan. What a player,if he hits them ... they stay hit all right. And of course there is also Virender Sehwag. Yup, these two rock yaar. Hmm, come to think of it , Gilchrist ain't bad either mate? What a cover drive he's got! These three are the reasons why IPL sells. You know, Chris Gayle hits them big too not to mention Hayden with the kind of form he is in! Yup its just bcoz of these 5, turn on the TV. Oh, how could I forget KP my favourite and oh my god Sachin - everybody's favourite. And last but not the least Yuvi ... his six sixes in the world cup are still fresh as a daisy in my mind. Yup, its these eight. So I will make a compromise. All I need to do is watch matches when these 8 are involved. No need to waste time watching the remaining bores. Now tell me whether that isn't the best plan anyone's ever come up with. Hmmm, so the only matches I will watch involves Rajasthan, Delhi, hmmm.. Hyderabad, KKR ,Chennai, Royal challengers,hmmm.. Mumbai I, and ...... OH MY GOD!
